Watched Chemicals south of the border

greenyppols - 15-11-2007 at 11:21

hi,

I've read the watched chems list for the US and Canada, but searching for a list of chems that are watched in Mexico yielded nothing. Is there a list for Mexico? I may be traveling south of the border a few months, so I wonder.

Thanks

This so called "watched" chemicals list is rather vague and I wonder if it really exists
except in the paranoid fantasies of certain websites or otherwise.

If you mean "listed" chemicals then technically by UN treaty Mexico is a party to the USA DEA List 1&2. However they do not enforce or even publish such "lists".

Even nitric acid is OTC in some Mexican hardware stores and chemical suppliers
deal with customers on an individual basis. The larger international companies
will most likely scrutinize purchases whereas small local suppliers will probably not.

Of course who you are and how you present yourself makes all the difference.
Show your business card and knowing what you are talking about will most likely mean that you can purchase any chemical you want without an ID check or any fuss.

Thanks Bio,

yeah, I should have said listed and I was wondering about treaties and such. Im more concerned about the return trip. I figured cash would rule. Thanks, I'll go looking for the DEA list.

my suggestion

It's cheap to live in Mexico. Stay a few weeks, do what you do. Return travel will only have what you made. Seal it up tight though. Dogs have good noses for explosives and what not. Chances of getting searched are minimal. Unless you drive a truck / semi LOL.

Of course it exists, where I am, chemicals such as benzaldehyde and 2,5-dimethoxy benzaldehyde, LAH are watched.
