opps sorry.....
what i dumass....
i should have remembered that alkanes does not react with halogens.instead alkene will.
so how do get ch3cl.

by the way..an organic substance will react with the chloromethane so it gets methylised.
if i had ch2cl2, would the ch2cl2 bond together two molecules of the organic compound?

i mean

example:

phenylamine + ch3cl --> methyl phenylamine

phenylamine + ch2cl2 --->

methane 1,4 diphenylamine?
