Waste from oscillation reaction

Hi.

I tried Briggs-Rauscher reaction today. Instead of malonic acid I used acetone but reaction doesn't oscillate. So I neutralized solution with bunch of sodium thiosulfate. I have two questions:

Is there possible formation of acetone peroxides? I doubt it because H2O2 was cca 5% solution (40ml of 30% H2O2 in 300ml of water plus 0,5ml of conc. H2SO4 and other reagents) and acetone was only 1,1ml. But I am not organic chemist so I asked about this just for sure.

In waste is some sulfur - I'll filtered it and solution flush in to the drain. How I'll should discard sulfur? I have idea boiling it with basic sulfite solution to form thiosulfate. Is there any better way?

If you added excess thiosulfate, then all peroxide is gone. The peroxide oxidizes the thiosulfate. No need to worry abouyt acetone peroxide.

The solid sulfur can go in the household waste. Sulfur is non-toxic and simply will be burnt in the household waste.
