Adding alkyl halides to double carbon-carbon bonds?

Will alkyl halides add to double carbon-carbon bonds? For example, will CH3Cl add to H2C=CH2 to yield CH3CH2CH2Cl?

I weep at the sight of flaming acetic anhydride.

re: adding a alkyl halide to an alkene

No, but you can add another alkene (dimerization) or add a hydrogen halide and make it an alkyl halide. why not start with the alkene you want and then add the hydrogen halide to make the alkyl halide.
