Routes to Calcium benzoate

I can only think of 2.
Benzoic acid with CaCO3 and benzotrichloride with CaO. How many other easy ways are there?

I find benzoic acid + lime water as the easiest way.

"Double substitution" between potassium/sodium benzoate and calcium chloride. Calcium benzoate has solubility of ~2.7g/100ml at 20C and so should precipitate out. Alkali metal chloride will remain in solution.

Sorry to be so picky, but i believe terminology is important.
Ca(OH)2 in water is actually a suspension not an emulsion. An emulsion is a liquid in liquid colloid.

Sorry, just thought that was important.

Anyway, what are OTC sources of benzoic acid (i see it in all the cereals)

Benzoic acid, Ca propionate and Ca benzoate are available in bulk from food suppliers. Maany other salts as well.

Benzoic acid and Na benzoate yes. but I haven't seen Ca benzoate anywhere. Food ingredient suppliers or chemical companies don't seen to stock it, at least in the southern hemisphere.
