Thought you'd like to see this (eye taffy)
Gents, I'm posting this picture simply for the "gee whiz!" factor. This is the drain hole of a little furnace I use for melting this and that. Right
now it's firing a pot and is just causing the cone 6 cone to bend over.
What you're looking at is a soft billowy flame coming out of the drain hole. The drain hole is there in case a crucible breaks. At this point, the
drain hole is covered by a plinth so I'm guessing there is blow by. The clay is a Raku clay, and the source is propane.
The color you see is exactly right, and not a problem with the camera. Down below, you see a red glow. This is incandescence coming from the furnace
through the drain hole, ie the plinth bottom.

Neat! Must be some barium salts in the glaze of that Raku piece.

Please tell us more about your furnace! Is it of your own manufacture? It looks to made of some kind of castable refractory...can I ask what
composition you used?
