Restricted chemicals in Europe and Spain

Hi all!!

Searching in alibaba.com, I found interesting sources of chemicals which were ready to be sold to me with no questions at all. That sounds great, but I don´t know if I will have problems if those chemicals arrive my home, so I started to look for information about legal issues on those chemicals, here in Spain or Europe, which shouldn´t be very different. After more less two days searching, I haven´t been able to find any list of restricted or forbidden chemicals here in Spain, or Europe, just find links from one to other pages.. regardind legal issues about precursors of drugs and explosives, but not any list of chemicals with its names and cas number or so. So.. I finally decided to ask for your help. Most of you have lots of experience with it, so maybe you help me.. :( will you? Thanks!!!

PD: The chemical wich I can´t find information about its legality is Methylenedioxybenzene ( Cas 274-09-9 )

I know this compound puts the MD in MDMA, but that's about it!
I certainly wouldn't have it shipped to my home address!

It is ironic, then, that MD also means Doctor Of Medicine! Anyway, methylenedioxybenzene, a relatively simple diether, can itself be reasonably easily synthesized by the Williamson synthesis; see http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4082774.html and http://chemicalland21.com/specialitychem/perchem/1,3-BENZODI... . For more about it, and where to get the stuff, see http://www.chemicalregister.com/1_2-MethyleneDioxybenzene/Su...

Derivatives of it, particularly apiol, 1-allyl-2,3-dimethoxy-4,5-methylenedioxybenzene, are found in dill and fennel, very common introduced plants here in New Zealand, and which certainly have not been made illegal here; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apiol and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dillapiole . For comparison, safrole is 1-allyl-3,4-methylenedioxybenzene. Methylenedioxybenzene derivatives, especially piperonyl butoxide, are used as aerosol insecticides, and I have a can of the stuff sitting on my desk; see http://www.wikipatents.com/5153182.htm . I recently posted a link to download a book about piperonyl butoxide in the Organic Books thread in the references section.

So I wonder if psychoactive analogs of MDMA could be made from apiol extracted from dill or fennel, or from piperonyl butoxide from a fly spray can? It would be worth a try, and the product, as well as its precursors and the plants from which they can be extracted, would be legal, too.

At last!! I think I got it! It seems it hasn't been regulated yet :o Somebody can confirm it?

Some of the agencies named in this document are absolutely unknown for me, and want to be sure before purchasing it...

Thanks again!

You can easily avoid the trouble by synthesizing it starting from resorcinol.
