30% Ethanolic HCl

Hello,

I'm getting myself all tied up trying to work out how to prepare a 30% solution of ethanolic HCl from 37% Concentrated HCl. Usually I don't have problems with mole calculations etc but my mind has gone blank.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

The sign % stands for parts of one component per 100 parts of the whole mixture (if no other information provided it stands for mass parts). A 30% therefore means 30 parts HCl per 100 parts ethanolic HCl solution. So you need to introduce HCl into 70 g ethanol until the mass increases up to 100 g. The easiest way to do this is by monitoring the mass increase.
