Urushibara-Style Reduction with external H2
Hi!
I read about this "Urushibara-Style" reduction and wondered if an external H2 source is of use to reduce nitropropenes under atm pressure, by just
bubbling it through the catalysator. In a reagent tube on could provide a lot more contact of the cat with the H2, than by just stirring from time to
time and rely too much on the H2 solubility.
By using an external H2 source the reaction condition would be quite stable and furthermore the workup should be easier. What do you think about this
idea?
Should the medium (the ethanolic solution) be acidic, neutral or even basic?
Under these more stable conditions i might use an EC-meter to watch the reaction...
