Low phosphoserine?? Phosphorylated serine?

All a doctor recommended I take phosphoserine because my levels are low. I cannot find phosphoserine only phosphorylated serine... are they the same? Does one metabolize into the other?

I would really like to raise my phosphoserine levels.

Do you know what test was used to determine your phosphoserine level? I can imaging levels will go up when taking supplements, but I can also imaging those levels are of little practical value as the benefits of phosphorylated serine are coming from serine that is phosphorylated when it is incorporated in proteins.

This phosphorylation is done post-translational, p-serine won't be used during translation, higher levels of it therefore won't lead to higher levels of p-serine in proteins. Or I am missing a use for p-serine in the body that is not as described above.

Supposedly they are the same thing I believe I found out... I don’t know Tsjerk about the last part of your reply. It was an organic acids urine test. I took two 3 month apart, both showed undetectable levels of phosphoserine, thinking that might be causing my insomnia...

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing. I would give it a go.

Yup. Have been. Don’t know if it’s helping yet... it might be. IDK. Seems like really high doses (4 plus grams) may make insomnia worse.
