sub carbonate of ammonia?


Can someone tell me what is "subcarbonas ammoniae or volatile salt of sal ammoniac"? aka "sal volatile" salis ammoniaci, Formula? Thank you.:)

This can be ammonium bicarbonate, NH4HCO3.
Most often, however, it refers to ammonium carbonate, (NH4)2CO3.

The latter is much more volatile than the first one and if you keep a small amount of ammonium carbonate in contact with air, it slowly disappears.
