Modified synthesis of chloroquine, beginning from benzoic acid

I modified my write-up of a total synthesis of chloroquine, including a different route to 7-chloro-4-hydroxyquinoline and a route to the amine precursor, 4-diethylamino-1-methylbutylamine. I would be interested to see if anyone is willing to attempt this synthesis at some point in time.

This looks like one of those sophomore org chem road map problems. You might find it instructive, since you are a student, to estimate the yield of each proposed step based on literature searches. This would give you an idea of how many barrels of benzene you would need to get a measurable amount of product at the end.

I do not mean to be snarky but your proposal needs more in depth analysis before anyone would start it.
