Improvised uses for used face masks?
Anyone have any good improvised uses for used surgical and N95 masks?
I was thinking as a filter (both) and maybe a rag for wiping down surfaces (surgical mask only).
Due to non-biodegredeable polypropylene plies, presumably the best way to dispose of it is incineration?

UVC (~ 254nm) sterilization, and reuse them.

I've thought about that....I even have UVC bulbs in the lab and at home I could use.
Just the thought of putting a mask with dead bacteria and viruses on it grosses me out, so I prefer to use new ones

i am not sure if you need a completely sterile work environment for any thing but you could use the N95 for an air filtration system. this would be
especially good if you do any biological based activity's or bio chemistry, hell it would also be good for home brewing.

Using it as a Semipermanente membrane for electrolysis would this be possible. surgical mask only.
The N95 respirator requires a fine mesh of synthetic polymer fibers, specifically a nonwoven polypropylene fabric. It is produced by melt blowing and
forms the inner filtration layer that filters out hazardous particles
