How useful is phosphoric acid?
I could get a food grade canister of 75% phosphoric acid for dirt cheap from an associate, but I sort of lack extra room for every possible
acquisition at the moment. Should I anyways get it when I have a chance, is phosphoric acid useful in chemistry in general?

I use it on occasion. I presently have a couple of liters on hand 85%.
I use it with certain hydrolysis.
It does have uses which I will not get into.
If it were me I would for sure get it.

There are times in the lab where what you need is "some acid or other" and phosphoric is as good as any.
Cheap is always good.
It will keep "forever".
Even if you end up using it to remove rust, it's useful to have.

Has uses. Cheap you say. Why not? Can use it to make HI as I recall. Can dehydrate it to make Polyphosphoric acid. Polyphosphoric acid can be
useful. In a pinch, you can use Phosphoric acid to make soda-pop. Seems to me you might be able to use it to make HCl gas, or Hydrochloric acid.
How much cash, for how much acid?

At least phosphoric acid is available in the UK. With a bit of ingenuity and distillation apparatus it can be used to make more useful acids and is
anyway the easiest way to make HBr or HI without a lot of reduction to Br2 or I2 occuring.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
