nice pottery website I found

https://uspigment.com/product-category/chemicals/

Red/black iron oxide - $1.25/lb

MnO2 - $2/lb

CaF2, SrCO3 - $3/lb

BaCO3, H3BO3, FeCr2O4, K2CO3 - $3/lb

TiO2 - $3.50/lb

CuSO4 - $4/lb

ZnO - $5/lb

Na2Cr2O7 - $6/lb

Cr2O3, basic copper carbonate - $7/lb

ZrO, zinc powder - $8/lb

KMnO4 - $10/lb, min order 1/4 lb for $4

SnO2 - $22/lb, min order 1/2lb for $13

Li2CO3 - $24/lb, min order 1/2 lb for $14

Sb2O3 - $15/lb

CoCO3 - $30/lb, min order 1/2 lb for $17

Pb3O4 - $20/lb

Na2SeO3 - $80/lb, min order 1/4 lb for $22

MoS2, NiCO3, NiO, NiSO4, SnCl2, V2O5 - $30/lb

Bi2O3 - $35/lb

Cd metal powder, CdO, CdS - $40/lb

Se metal powder - $60/lb

some chems i didnt list here but are available on the site, there's also another section with rare earth oxides

i personally got a bunch of chems including KMnO4, Na2Cr2O7, MnO2, BaCO3, K2CO3, CaF2, and TiO2 from them and they're pretty good quality from what I can tell, tho seeing as its a pottery store they probably arent super pure. all the stuff comes in plastic bags tho, and even tho they are in fairly good packaging other than that if they still use plastic bags for selenium and cadmium compounds i would be pretty worried if it broke open - even for chromates that's sorta dicey. shipping, at least within the united states, is a flat $10 up to at least 10 lbs.

Great Find

Yet another great source for compounds.
They have even more than the pottery
shop I used to drive to when I lived in the
Baltimore, Maryland area. Even that shop
sold everything in plastic bags. If it keeps
the cost down I'll just transfer to my own
containers.

Good job Garphield ! You can never find
too many sources. :D

From opening of NCIS New Orleans - It goes a BOOM ! BOOM ! BOOM ! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

Also check out Sheffield Pottery - they are in Mass and have some great prices - some better than above, some not as good.

Here's a spreadsheet list of some of the items they offer. They also have a more "web based" and picture oriented search function on the site so you can see what the product looks like, but this has a lot of stuff in one place - ships from Sheffield, MA

Another pottery supply shop ships out of Syracuse NY

This is out of FL

I am planning an order from uspigment.com but I am unsure of the purity of the products. Are pottery sources of permanganate and chromates generally fairly pure? Also is lithium carbonate worth getting, I am getting potassium carbonate and have sodium carbonate, so I am not sure if I should also spend money on the lithium salt.

I was just thinking, at ~$28/almost 2.5kg of potassium permanganate, even if it was fairly impure that is an awesome price. 6$ for 500g of sodium dichromate, 12$ for 500g of potassium dichromate and 8$ for 500g of zinc powder is also a steal in my opinion.

Note:

I am rounding my weights, everything is weighed in pounds but to be honest I hate using imperial in a science forum and I am not typing 454g for every lb.

I recieved my order from them last week just opened it. The price was great. Though the potassium permanganate bag had a small hole and had leaked some in the box, better the permanganate over the dichromate. The zinc was supposed to be powder but it was mostly chunks with a small amount of powder.

All in all I am pleased with the order.

All this came to $80.50USD including shipping to Canada via FedEx.
