H2O2 use in the oxidization of Cu for the synthesis of TACN

hello i was wondering if it would be possible to use H2O2 to substitute the introduction of O when synthesizing TACN. i know you usually use it when forming other Cu salts like Copper Chloride.

Has anyone ever thought of this idea and put it in practice?

Why? Just use copper nitrate. If you don't have any, dissolve some copper wire in nitric acid.

true i was just wondering if this process would work. there are much more efficient methods such as using copper nitrate or using CuO but ia just interested if H2O2 would to oxidize the Cu.

You might end up making copper peroxide depending on temperature and peroxide also destroys ammonium hydroxide
If you have copper powder ammonium hydroxide.

Yes it will work
just not as efficient as HCl and hydrogen peroxide it also takes a bit of time if you are using copper wire which has less surface area copper powder would work even better but you would have a copper salt like copper sulfate to make that anyways.

By TACN do you mean tetraamine copper nitrate?

Thanks! yeah that would make sense about forming copper peroxide. I forgot about the peroxide degrading the NH4OH i will definitely make some copper powder in the near future.

Also heating up copper pipe or copper wire till it turns black will make copper oxide on the surface and when it cools it flakes off so no sanding needed. This could be used to dissolve copper into ammonium hydroxide forming tetramine copper hydroxide
