Polymethyl pentene synthesis?
Hi Folks
Anyone have a (practical) synthesis of Polymethylpentene?
This is a very useful polymer for membrane permeability issues, particularly UV transparency and Oxygen permeability.
I've looked on google, and done a pubmed search and found a lot to do 'with' the polymer, but synthesis of the actual polymer is a challenge.
Any suggestions?

I am not well versed at all in polymerization reactions, however I looked up the reaction used industrially and saw that you probably don't want to
deal with triethyl aluminum. Maybe looking at an Ene-reaction method, cationic polymerization (seeing as you would form a secondary carbocation that
could be possible), or a Thiol-ene polymerization reaction. Some of these may not be applicable, but these are the reactions that I can think of that might be possible for
you. Sorry I don't have any papers for you to look at. If I find some I'll post them

This polymer.
