Ohaus vs Corning
I need to purchase a magnetic stirrer/hotplate for our science department, and wanted to get the community's opinion on Ohaus vs. Corning. The Ohaus
is cheaper and has more surface area (7" x 7" vs 7" x 5"), but for some reason I have it in my head that the Corning is worth paying more for?

I have owned Ohaus equipment for some time and have not had much of an issue at all. Just got a new Ohaus pH meter as well. I cannot speak for
everything they make, but so far it has been quite good.

If you aren't buying the cheapest Chinese lab equipment that you can find, then you aren't really experimenting. lol

You may want to consider repair cost/availability/ease ?
If either is available with cheap (local) support,
that may be more important than relative specifications/recommendations.
If both are available with similar support then ...

Sigh... I know how inflated full list price is, but I have never paid it in the modern era.
I buy 'em in like new condition for about $40 bucks each.

Huh. I’d never seen an Ohaus hotplate before. I thought they only made analytical balances (their specialty). Considering Corning has been in the
hotplate business a lot longer, I’d probably trust them more, though the Ohaus one is probably fine. It’s just that buying something from Ohaus
that isn’t an analytical balance feels like buying something from Büchi that isn’t a rotovap. They’re known for one thing.
