If see Xanthone page on wiki, it says it was made from phenyl salicylate.

By a straight analog then, would it be possible to prepare

Dibenzo[b,f]oxepin-10(11H)-one [5024-70-4]

using benzyl salicylate ester as the starting material?

I got a whole army of RMI # codenumbers from pubchem if someone can help me.

Potentially, Thiosalicylic acid can be used also?
