Copper silicide
Hi everyone!!
I just read somewhere about this unique compound and I think it's interesting to do this experiment since it has a silver colour which is pretty cool
when talking about a copper salt..
do anyone has an idea how to prepare it?
I've found this on Wikipedia and it seems a little bit mysterious
2 CH3Cl + Si → (CH3)2SiCl2
They don't mention anything about the synthesis itself although they give an idea about a reaction in which our compound plays the role of a catalyst

Your Wikipedia reference confuses me. But I found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_silicide
It says the silvery one is Cu5Si, and it's made from heating mixtures of the elements. But how much heat is the obvious question. Maybe you could do
an experiment and post pictures?
