I wondered if this reaction could work in acid.
2-Amino-5-chlorobenzophenone
[719-59-5]
2-chloroacridin-9(10H)-one
[7497-52-1]
The precursor is widely available and the product is used to make clomacran (Devryl).
I saw a similar reaction occuring for Botiacrine synthesis except there it was a tertiary alcohol that is prone to carbocation formation via elimination of water.
