Pinacryptol green (1,3-diamino-N-phenylphenazone chloride) home synthesis

Heyo~

Just throwing it out there for now so I have some motivation
Expect an update in a few days

As described in the title, my goal is to synthesize 1,3-diamino-N-phenylphenazone hydrochloride for use as a photographic desensitizer at home!

The route I'm going with is starting with aniline and chlorobenzene, via picryl chloride and 2-nitrodiphenylamine. As such, DO NOT follow this route unless you really know what you're doing, cause you might lose your hands or life, picryl compounds are no joke. If you don't know what they are, you do not know what you're doing ;)

The first update will be a rough draft of the route, on my fav thing to use for such tasks - paper

Love y'all!

Isn't that a 5 in place of the N?

I should have guessed. The only mentions of pinacryptol green (also called pynakryptol green in some places) that I could find in a quick search come from photography forums and a CIA file on Soviet technologies. The CIA file cites a short article on desensitizers from the August 1939 issue of Советское Фото (Soviet Photo or something like it), pages 28-29. Pretty hard to find some synthetical routes for the thing itself.

What is the name of the book?

Edit: Here's the article from Soviet Foto. I forgot the author's first name.

It's called Практикум по синтетическим лекарственным и душистым веществам и фотореактивам. It's a really good book all in all, the pinacryptol green synthesis is numbered 54, on the 110th page of the scan file, I've attached the scanned copy below
