Police responding to a one vehicle rollover accident in Louisiana found ten pipe bombs in the vehicle. Nine plastic and one metal.

Even though many here may be into explosives, this is not a pyrotechnics forum. There are many reasonable chemists who do not have to make drugs or
blow stuff up.

Is that the impression you get of the US from watching cowboy movies on the telly? I never did see a store like that, but I don't watch much
television.
I suppose at home you can just take a spade out to the garden and dig up some left over munitions from the war. Careful with the big heavy rusty
metallic round things. 
When I lived in Europe as a child, I brought home a few 'artifacts'. Fortunately for me they didn't explode before my father called the proper people
to dispose of them. Being lucky can sometimes fill in for experience.

I was been a bit silly but around here you would not go fishing with pipe bombs which some of the people on that website seem to think is perfectly
normal.
Anyway what do you need dynamite for when you can do it this way!

Austrians Arrest Suspect In Racist Bomb Attacks
VIENNA, Oct. 4 (Reuters) - A suspect has been
arrested in connection with a racist
bombing campaign that has unnerved Austria
for four years, the Interior Minister said
today.
A 48-year-old technician was arrested on Thursday
150 miles south of Vienna after two
women phoned the police to say they thought that
they were being followed.
The man lost both hands and part of one
forearm when an explosive device he was
carrying went off as he got out of his car to
be questioned by the police.
"We feel we have enough circumstantial
evidence to link him directly to the bomb
attacks and to rule him out as being just a
dangerous copycat culprit," the Interior
Minister, Karl Schloegl, said at a news
conference today .
The police found five loaded pipe bombs at
his house and a booby-trap bomb similar to
one that killed four Gypsies in 1995, in the
worst of the series of bomb attacks on
foreigners, members of minorities and those
who support the integration of foreigners.

Yes, I have been to the american "south".
They are really into whiskey, guns, and fireworks.
I drove out in the middle of nowhere and saw advertisements for five different fireworks stores down a single road! I drove offroad
to visit one and it was a huge wharehouse with more fireworks than I had ever seen, sold in huge bags. Right across the street was yet
another big fireworks store. The woman at the counter asked me if I was interested in anything "more powerful", and pulled out some rather
dangerous looking unmarked paper tubes with fuses of dubious legality.
The people have huge farms- typically 20 acres. I can easily envision many of the people there being interested in explosives.
Interestingly, no skateparks. There are skateparks all along the west coast in the USA, but not in the southern region. Big cultural and culinary
differences.

20 acres is NOT huge. I own 189.72 acres. [What was 30-years
ago a dairy farm.] My neighbour owns a 1 000, a couple of years
back sold off his other 1 000 which years back was part of Meridale
Farms 4 000+ acres. In the midwest a 1 000 farm would be a
small farm. What I noticed in the 21-months I spent in the FDR
[1964-5] all expensives paid courtsy of my unkle. Unk even gave
me a rile and free ammo with which to guard an manhole cover.
I operated under the philosphy that the first Russian's who
showed up in a tank — it was their manhole. What impressed me
was — how small western Europe is. And the lack of public
land. The place having been pretty much divided up over the
centuries.

Seconding Wiz... 20 acres is nothing. In fact you'd have to be in a pretty specialized line of farming to make a living on 20 acres (maybe hoop houses
and year-round produce production, very labor intensive). I have ~58 acres and the only reason I might be able to make a living at farming (jury still
out) is because of the availability of inputs from those multi-thousand-acre outfits, that is, the cheap grain that I can feed my cows and pigs and
chickens. I worked out how much meat I could raise if I had to grow all my own feed and it's not that much.
You're right about the culture being different down South. Different out here in Amish country too.
