Simple Fire

I'm surprised I haven't seen this reaction discussed before, as the chemicals are readily available. This is my own "invention", and I verified it works.

Add 0.2g of calcium hypochlorite and 0.1g of calcium carbide to a small test tube. Add a few ml of dilute (say 3M) HCl. Immediately flashes of orange fire occur in the test tube, accompanied by dense black smoke.

All you are doing is producing chlorine which spontaneously ignites the acetylene produced from the carbide. Used to do this as a kid!
