Can anyone from AZ recommend any lenient walk-in chem stores?

All I can say is google is your friend. I found a store in my city that is sort of out of the way but they supply things like industrial cleaners, urinal pucks and whatnot. They also sell a wide variety of pure bulk chemicals for contractors at wholesale costs such as toluene, trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, GAA... The list goes on.

They sell to the public, but they do require photo ID. I've never had trouble though... Mind you I never went in to buy nitric and sulfuric at the same time or other suspicious combinations, that might not be a good idea. Just look for retail stores that cater to contractors and you should be able to find something, they don't supply lab oriented things, only usually acids, bases, solvents and a few other things though, in my case also soap making supplies.

Anyhow, look in this list.. You may get lucky...otherwise, just google it some more.

Try the yellow pages. You have a large supplier on the west side and one around 32nd st/Thomas, a white building on the south side of the street. Have not been there in years so no I do not remember the names.

In Tucson, check out Adchemco They have a small range of chemicals used for things like metal etching, plus general lab equipment, flasks, beakers, etc.

They ship. I live in Tucson, but they're on the S Side, still 45 min away.

I'm new to the chemistry tinkering and also have no interest in being harassed by suppliers or agencies.. Why is it suspicious to buy nitric and sulfuric acid together?

Because you can nitrate things, such as cotton, toluene, glycerin... Etc. all energetic materials. Just don't buy them at the same time if you are new to the supplier. We should be free to buy them at the same time without raised eyebrows but that's the wonderful age we live in.
