No, you can't. But in this case the turd is smeared over what started out as a
decent thread. It would be lovely if a moderator would prune and remove everything from where the science ends and the politics begins and set that up
in a new argument thread in Whimsy. bfesser did a grand job of that when he was here, as you can see from the first page of this thread, but since
then it has taken on a life of its own and everything of value has been buried.

I also thought it was most revealing how Fox news attempted to knock off Donald with some very pointed hard questions only to fail! Everyone else got
a pass especially Bush who, in my opinion, broke election laws (the very pillar of democracy), by having votering rolls purged of likely democrats,
ridiculous long lines and made access to some minority voting polling precincts nearly impossible! He should be in jail for election law violations
and not running for anything!
Also, there may be more broken than just the political process. One should examine the entertainment news business as well.
I have decided to become an independent, or at least, upwind from the manure.

The premise that climate can be changed by politics.
It's either yes or else then it's no. If no then why are we talking about it ?
So by elimination it is yes.
Being political , necessarily means it cannot be science , but it surely is political science.
What ' science ' may be co-opted into the fray , is to bolster the premise with confirmation bias.
An example of scientific debate is whether dinosaurs where cold blooded or warm blooded.
When was the last time you heard a Papal encyclical on that.
If some yokel held a press conference declaring the debate is over , dinosaurs were cold blooded
because they look like lizards which are cold blooded , he would be seen as what he is , a crank
and loon.
Why isn't this the case with absurd assertions of avowed change in climate ?
It really speaks volumes about who populates mass media.

Regardless of the issue of climate change, the thread title "Climate Science for the Amateur" is a suggestive title indeed.
One conceives several experiments well suited for the amateur, for example, though international diplomacy has succeeded in curtailing the
distribution of a class of aerosol propellants under the guise of the potential for the "depletion" of an ozone layer, named chlorofluorocarbons or
CFC's, the science beyond this is still much under debate. Now the role of the amaterur comes into play!
The chlorocarbons - so alleges the hypothesis - exert an effect on the oxone layer by photolysis to chlorine and carbon radicals... It seems apparent
then, that to meauser this effect it would be necessary to dispense a quantity of such a gas into the layer of the atmosphere. This can be done via
balloons. The amateure will find it easy to prepare a samole of chloroform by ordinary means - as stated above, the fluorinated element is simply for
rhetorical effect in the diplomatic negotiations - and to release a balloon laden, somehow, with the chlorocarbon and filled with such a lifting gas
as hydrogen or helium such tat it will burst, in the sky, at the appropriate altitude having brought the substance at least nearer to it's goal.
Indeed, one may prepare a number of such balloons and distribute them to local schoolchildren, enticing them to take part in an 'epochal experiment'!
Then by spectro-photometric means one may measure the decline in concentration of ozone gas in its layer: if it looks less blue (the sky) well then,
it clearly worked.
One may imagine other applications of this technology if the hypothetical causation is borne out. It has been claimed that flora, fauna, the
ecosystem, and the general rates of skin cancer among human beings would all be affected. Perhaps then, it should have a role in America's military
arsenal. In addition ultra violet rays are already used by medical practitioners to sterilize their tools: perhaps a decrease in ozone concentration,
with the concomitant increase in said flux would lead to a resurgence in the public practice of that noblest craft of surgery.

Read the thread and see how these people 'trounce' back. Perhaps you're showing your own bias on the issue, seeing the 'trouncing' from the side you
disagree with but not from the side you agree with?
And 'eliminating people from the gene pool' sounds a little ominous too, you know?
Moderators should have dumped this turd of a thread in detritus a long time ago. There's nothing scientific about it.
