making Ph sensors, w lasers !

This looks like a lab doable experiment !

Ph sensor, moisture sensor, and diffraction grating all in one !

Holographic Batman !

That's very interesting. Reminds me of the work of Sanford Asher, University of Pittsburgh. Change the spacing of an array of electrostatically suspended nanoparticles, change the diffraction of light through the array.
Probably is doable, but you're going to have to be very careful to control the ionic strength, temperature, etc. - all those factors which influence the various attractive and repulsive forces at play.
Good luck.

Might be able to do the experiment in a magnetic field to keep the nano's aligned ?

Have to be a paramagnetic material then, but would work better for macroscale patterns

I see a much better use for this technology in the medical industry by attaching say Viral Ligands to the substrate it should be able to detect cancers or viruses at a relatively early stage. I'm sure cancer has to produce some sort of signature that this could be modified to detect.

A litmus test for cancer or HIV would be something very interesting to have.

Knowledge is useless to useless people...

"I see a lot of patterns in our behavior as a nation that parallel a lot of other historical processes. The fall of Rome, the fall of Germany — the fall of the ruling country, the people who think they can do whatever they want without anybody else's consent. I've seen this story before."~Maynard James Keenan
