Propellant
Hi, i am trying to make a rocket, i am searching the best propellant and i think that hypergolic propelant is the best,anhydrous hydrazine, but it is
dangerous and hard to make. I saw at encarta that anilines are good hypergolic propellants but i havent got any idea that how i can obtain it. I like
H2 and O2 but freeze it...

Well, funny you should mention it, but me!
Tetramethylammonium perchlorate - its a white solid powder and is very easy to make from TMA hydroxide and aqueous HClO4.
Its another very interesting compound having both fuel and oxidiser in the same molecule and is an ideal rocket fuel! In fact it is the sole
constituent, to my knowledge, in mini-rockets (the whistling ones that are readily available in the UK).
It does not explode (unless confined) when ignited, but burns very quickly and cleanly leaving very little residue and making no smoke.

Yes it is but i want to know which hypergolic propellent is best, there are many posts about hydrazina but it sounds impossible to make at home...
and i think aniline is easiest to make and less hazardous....

Aniline is phenylamine. It is usually prepared in the lab by reducing nitrobenzene with an Sn/HCl mixture. It is seperated from this mixture by
fractional distillation and obtained as a pure, colourless liquid with a pungent odour. I would like to hear how this phenylamine is supposed to act
as a hypergolic propellant. It is quite expensive as a lba reagant, it is toxic and most probably a mutagen IIRC.
Theory guides, experiment decides.

Hydrazine hydrate is N2H4*H2O, while anhydrous is "dry" - without the water.
