how does that compound react with the disulphide linkages ? i guess it was used in the analysis of insulin... and how does performic acid react with the disulphide linkages??

Re the performic acid reaction: see my post a day or two ago on another thread re aminoacids with -S-S- linkages.

The only likely reaction of HSCH2CH2OH with such an aminoacid, or its reduced form with -SH groups instead, is, in my opinion, formation of an ester or thioester.
