Green arrow thing
I can't figure out what the little green box with a white arrow next to certain threads mean. It doesnt seem to be the most recently replied
threads, nor the most replied to threads...

Clicking that green box with a white arrow shows me the latest post in a given thread.
Edit: Oops, got confused; that was for the arrows on the far right; near the name of the last member who posted. The green box with white arrow, next
to a thread title, looks like the XMB "sticky thread" feature. Apparently, only Polverone, madscientist, or vulture are capable of deeming
threads as sticky since they're admins.

Yeah, I noticed that. I think it means the threads have been made 'sticky' or something similar. By who, is the question.

I made those threads sticky (i.e. they remain at the top of the respective subsection) so that threads of great(er) value/interest wouldn't be
lost in mountains of other threads.
More may be added with time, I haven't fully gone through the subsections yet.
In the case of the DPPP thread, I added it because of the sheer enormity & effort done, on something that seemingly doesn't exist 
Obviously it wouldnt be ideal to overload the top of a subsection with stickies. That's why I try to keep the number down.

While it is a good idea, it can be a bit confusing when you have this pile of golden threads more than a year old covering the most recently
replied/started thread. Of course the boxes on the left are a 'slight' giveaway, its not that visually distinct, so it's confusing.
I noticed you have a member website thread. Maybe you could apply this theory to the stickied threads? Just make the members website thread sticky,
and a new thread which links all the golden threads in much the same way.

Yes, I've been thinking about this (threads that combine other big threads as links to avoid confusion).
However, there is of course the 'Today's Posts' feature which pretty much sums up the posts of the day  - which means you don't have to go through the subsections manually anyway.
Those that do are either not aware of this feature, or casual visitors.
Anyway, this is experimental at this point, let's see how it goes.

Perhaps these stickies can be separated from the main forum? Like an extension or something? Else, it just clogs at the top of the forum misleading me
on several occasions.

I personally think that they would be less annoying if it were easier to tell what’s new and what’s not. Maybe they could be arranged so that the
old stickies are right below the new threads/stickies?

Just posting to keep the complaints persisting
New posts on top .. New posts on top ... New posts on top ..
I think they really only fit at the top of this section, where the threads are relevant to everyone. You could just add a whole new section titled
"hall of fame" or something less lame. With the same format as the other sections but the topics are simply links into the now
"stickied" threads. Something simular was suggested before, its far less intrusive yet accomplishes the same thing.
Actually I'm a whole lot less likely to read posts into stickied threads, as you have to look at the date to see if anyone has posted into them.
