Tropylium Perchlorate

1. http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/abstract/10657257...

2. On the Sensitivity of Tropylium Perchlorate to Heat, Spark, Impact, and Friction ( http://www.thieme-connect.com/ejournals/toc/synthesis/1374)

3. According to a passing reference on orgsyn, Tropylium Perchlorate is "so dangerously explosive that its use should be avoided"

Tropylium ions are incredibly interesting (My love of the number 7) and. I saw a preparation of tropylium iodide in my uncle's chem book, and its chemistry piqued my interest. I then thought of the perchlorate salt. I could not access the PDFs but someone here can, I think. If so... In any case, the OB ain't great. But from what I know it ought to pack some punch.

F. de Lalande and M. Prud'homme showed that a mixture of boric oxide and sodium chloride is decomposed in a stream of dry air or oxygen at a red heat with the evolution of chlorine.
