Polls... ? Do you vote in them?

Throughout the Sciencemadness discussion forum there are quite a few polls, approximately 59 so far with this poll making 60 total. So I thought this thread was in order. The following are the 59 other polls, feel free to add more to the list as they are generated, there are some interesting things to note, such as there being a poll on age in the whimsy section, and another on age in the forums matter section, kind of interesting to compare, still both just rely on whoever chooses to vote. Hopefully this thread will give more exposure to these threads and allow even more votes to be cast!

I went through the forums a year or so ago and found all the polls I could to vote in, and did. Going through your list I found only two I did not vote in, one because I never saw it, and another because it was that favourite band thread and I had no particular interest in it.

I like polls:)

Good work collecting those polls, Bromic Acid, must have been quite time-consuming! :)

Obviously, this poll will be skewed to the 'always' side. Those who usually reply will reply here, those who never reply won't bother.

P.S. Happy new Year.

Why should I bother voting when I can either tinker with the results or just ignore the outcome and do as I bloody well please? :D

Just kidding, all votes are completely fair and untampered with, aren't they? (elbows other mods)

I vote in polls only if I think that they are important and will help to improve the forum.

We should have a poll on whether you vote in polls on whether you vote in polls also, for thoroughness, to ensure the results of this poll are not skewed.

Re-read it it will make sense slowly.

I know that I voted in a few of the old polls when I saw this thread! (although in most, I doubt that I'd bother).

I think the success of polls on this forum relates to whether they are trying to accomplish something, or whether they are simply for interests sake. For example, the poll asking whether a newsletter is a good idea (I think so!), although likely to get responses, is unlikely to motivate the necessary action required for its introduction.

In comparison, the poll asking about where you come from, whose purpose is just to provide an interesting statistic, gets people taking part, and I believe that people would also be interested in the results (ok I realise that I'm generalising!).

There does not appear, so far, any poll here asking "What are your political inclinations?" It is about time there was. For choices to answer, there could be the following alternatives:
Anarchist, Communist (pro-Chinese), Communist (pro-Soviet), Socialist, Green, Liberal, Conservative, Fa$cist, Nazi.

I'd say a lot of people would feel uncomfortable taking part in such a poll, John.
There's quite a bit of paranoia out there and it's likely that it's increasing!
