Ions to noble gases?


If a metallic salt ionizes in water losing or gaining electrons, assuming the nearest noble gas configuration, can't one make electons flow out of solution, producing the noble gas?

This is a beginner's question I wasn't able to reply sufficiently good. Post what do you think about

No, the atom is still going to have the same number of protons as before. To change to another element you would have to get rid of (or add) protons. This can only be done with a nuclear reaction.
