Benzalkonium chloride PTC?
Just wondering what you thought about using benzalkonium chloride as a phase transfer catalyst?
It is alkylbenzyldimethylamine chloride, where the alkyl group can vary. Thus it should be fairly soluble in non-polar solvents, and could therefore
be used as a PTC, for example when performing NS on haloalkanes.
It is found in many OTC algaecides.

worth a try
I have been dabbling with a similar compound from concentrated algaecide for a few months. It really does seem to lead to more rapid reactions in
situations where I have an aqueous phase and an immiscible organic phase. But I am not sure if this is a genuine PTC-type action or just due to the
surfactant action of the compound, which sometimes allows the two phases to form an emulsion (=much higher surface area between phases).
