Zinc Acetate Dihydrate
If Zn(O2CCH3)2 was wanted as a catalyst in a reaction happening in GAA, is it really necessary to prepare it beforehand if the acetate is so easily
formed from Zn Carbonate in AcOH, or even directly from plain zinc metal?

(no ref given so I don't know how accurate this is)

That is certainly correct. Preparing it as a catalyst in situ might not be such a great idea though... What catalysed reaction do you have in
mind?

I'm hoping to acetylate methyl anthranilate in GAA.
I have some zinc acetate drying but it's taking forever (can't use heat), so wondering if this could maybe work in situ?
