Phthalic anhydride, anyone?
I'm testing the waters for an idea I have: A bulk buy program for U.S. members(potentially international members, too!) that allows people to pay the
lower bulk cost of various reagents while only purchasing small amounts. As such, I'm posting to gauge interest for the first buy I plan on doing:
Phthalic anhydride!
If anyone would be interested in buying any amount of phthalic anhydride for as low as $5/100g, please reply and give me an estimate of how much you'd
want to purchase.
The product in question is 99+% pure, reagent grade, and comes from a chemical supplier in town.

I'd probably be interested in 500g or so. Phthalic anhydride is a vastly useful intermediate and the prep from plasticized vinyl is painfully tedious.

I hate to bud in like this but I'm also selling phthalic anydride, ACS grade, for 20.00 for 500 grams, if anyone's interested? I also have sodium
metal for sale -- 1/2 lb for 80.00.

I think the idea of a "local chemical purchasing co-op" (for lack of a better name), is great! I think I might be interested in some things,
especially as I am just starting to set up a home lab.

I'll definitely sell internationally, it's just a matter of how much the shipping will cost. If you're interested, I can look into the amount of
shipping that would be charged, but typically shipping things out of the US costs quite a bit.

Price it up for 200g and 500g.
Might be a break point where it works out OK.
Edit:
Ukranian ebay seller has 300g of >= 99% for $27 including shipping.
Would be interesting to see how much from the US to Europe

I'm down to my last 350 grams, any takers? Some possible ideas to use it for: luminol, anthranilic acid, phenolphthalein, phthalocyanines, and azo
dyes, among others.
