A New Name

So you may have noticed the disappearance of one name and the appearance of another.
I used to be "TheAustralianScientist", now Volanschemia.

The reasoning:
Back when I joined, I was foolishly under the impression that I was, if not the only, one of extremely few amateur chemists in Australia hence "TheAustralianScientist".
After spending a few months here I realized that I was very far from the truth.
I carefully picked out a few names and narrowed them down to one, finally settling on Volanschemia. It is Latin and roughly translates to "Flying Chemist", representing my two favourite things to do, pilot aeroplanes and do chemistry.

I hope my new name is slightly less ignorant and self-promoting!

"The chemists are a strange class of mortals, impelled by an almost insane impulse to seek their pleasures amid smoke and vapor, soot and flame, poisons and poverty; yet among all these evils I seem to live so sweetly that may I die if I were to change places with the Persian king" - Johann Joachim Becher, 1635 to 1682.

Nice realisation, and good thoughts.

Nobody really cares though, so may as well stay with the original name.

I just reread my post. I wasn't trying to be condescending or anything. Volanschemia: cool name. And always good to get the back story on names chosen.

Oh no, I didn't read it as condescending, all good!
I'm still adjusting myself, it'll be bit weird seeing my new name beside my posts for a while :).

Yeah, weirdly, there seems to be a disproportionately large number of Australians here compared to people from other countries. Not that there's anything wrong with that! I guess amateur chemistry is just more popular down there. :P
