That would save time recycling solvents.... I have been using a PTFE stir paddle. It is probably not a good choice for stirring molten lead and zinc
but works great for most of my experiments.

Today i needed a side stirrer, as i was using a spirit burner.
After faffing about with ring bearings and some complicated electromagnetic ideas, this much much simpler solution occurred to me :-

Nice  As time goes on, I'm seeing fewer and fewer reasons to invest in expensive
stirring and heating apparatus.

Simple, multi-use, cheap ... need i go on ?
Edit:
Some Expensive equipment is well worth the price (e.g. measuring instruments).
Heating and Stirring aren't really high-tech enough to warrant a large $ value, unless they do it with precision.

Some expensive equipment definitely is worth the price... I actually have been using a $5 pocket scale for the past several months, but a better scale
would be nice.
Yet I can do more with a $11 hot plate and a $20 drill than I could with a $400 magnetic stirrer.
(And yes, this is actually being run in a public restroom. I'm using immersion heaters in the image, but I now have a 1000 watt hotplate.)
