Friedel-Crafts alkylation with FeCl3
Does it have good yield the Friedel-Crafts alkylation with FeCl3 and chloroacetone?
Edit by Chemoleo: It's spelled FRIEDEL. Makes future searches much easier! Another example of why spelling is important!

You might try using the search engine but not with that spelling....try Friedel-Crafts alkylation, youmay have better luck both here and at
google...............solo

Thank. I already know the theory. For this reason I have doubts about the effectiveness of this method to synthesize p2p. I want to know real
experience using the method of Frielde-Crafts.

[bmim]CV[FeC13] Ionic Liquid as Catalyst for Alkylation of Benzene with 1-Octadecene
SUN Xuewen and ZHAO Suoqi
Chinese J. Chem. Eng., 14(3) 28F293 (2006)
Abstract
The study on the catalysis of ionic liquids for alkylation of benzene with 1-octadecene to synthesize LAB (linear alkylbenzenes) was performed.
The results showed that the most important factor that governed the conversion of olefin and selectivity of LAB was reaction temperature. Moreover,
the effects of different ionic liq- uids and molar ratio of benzene to 1-octadecene on the conversion and selectivity were obviously in different
de- grees. The reaction temperature, molar ratio of benzene to 1-octadecene and the amount of catalyst were lower, compared with the traditional
reaction technologies. The experimental results demonstrated that the ionic liquid had higher activity at 30°C. with over 98% selectivity of
monoalkylbenzene and 100% conversion of the olefin at the molar ratio 0.08 of FeC13 in ionic liquid to 1-octadecene and 10 for benzene to
1-octadecene.
Keywords alkylation, benzene, 1 -octadecene, [bmim]CY[FeC13] ionic liquid
Note: this may be a nice route to allylbenzene with recycable ionic solution
