is there an ebook version or much cheaper version of the book somewhere. i just doing have 500 AUD to buy it

There is an early edition in the ScienceMadness library; that's probably the one you're looking for. There are also a few editions available for free
on archive.org.

Keep a close eye on ebay, I got a hard copy after months of looking for £2.
PDF's are great, but holding the book in your hand is a whole other world of joy  .

Geeze, seems to me, it can sometimes be found cached somewhere. Recent editions too.
Such things should be printed out, hole punched, and placed in a binder.
Online cache sites can be purged, and downloads left on your computer, may "date out".
Requires a ream or two of paper, an old laser jet printer (both cheap in the U.S.), and a binder.
Obtained some very useful books that way.

Another young fart here who appreciates having physical copies of books. Walking the aisles of the chemistry section at my university library to find
an ACS journal article from 1954 is so much more fun than punching in a DOI on SciHub, even if a bit of legwork is required. I also recently checked
out a copy of a dye chemistry book from 1970 that is chock full of interesting compounds, and it references other books that are available at the
library, so it's led me to all kinds of great reading. I don't know why I haven't thought about checking out a copy of Vogel, I'm sure they have
multiple editions of it there.

Ok, so Arthur Vogel plagerised a bit but his books are now legendary, I have two copies of practical organic chemistry, one a 1970's edition and the
other, the latest edition; the bright orange cover is so distinctive. I have a 5th ed. copy of Vogel's textbook of quantitative analysis. A little
outdated in terms of the capabilities of modern instrumental analysis, but a damn good reference occasionally.

The biggest problem with some of the much older texts, is getting the reagents. Took forever getting 2 dozen eye's of toad .
And it was/is cow farts to be exact! Which reminds me...........
The hydrogen question for inert Gas..
i found a paper and a book reference for it, apparently Hydrogen is the ideal gas for the non Oxygen atmosphere for methane bugs, but the paper was a
bit confusing. At the end it did mention that hydrogen can also retard the process.
