I've got some serious doubts concerning the reaction between these two compounds, especially in the aldol manner... Regardless of the catalyst.

Perhaps you can elaborate your question a tad?

Hi. I discuss to you.

I think it a bad idea when you used alumin catalyse aldol reaction between cyclohexanol and benzaldehyde.

Hehehe .... ehhhh??

.... me thinks you thinks cyclohexanone, but me say you say cyclohexanol for some odd reason.

As for the catalyst ... yes you can use alumina supported catalyst. Dissolve your catalyst in MeOH, add alumina, and evaporate.

the only reason ill join this bandwagon is, methinks

Asymmetric aldol reactions catalyzed by tryptophan in water
Zhaoqin Jiang, Zhian Liang, Xiaoyu Wu and Yixin Lu
Chem. Commun., 2006, 2801 - 2803

solo found this in record time might I add, its talks about cyclohexanone precisly with benzaldehyde

it seems the hydrophobisity of tryptaphan is worth a nod...

as far as cyclohexanol.. you must blaze on

I really had a mistake for last update.
The reaction here is aldol reaction between cyclohexanone and benzaldehyde.
