Possible PEA from phenylalanine with a sodium carbonator


Just a thought I have- is it possible to decarboxylate phenylalanine using the carbon dioxide from with a soda carbonator/soda streamer? If yes, how would you get the PEA out of the water? Boil, what kind of solvents? Etc.

Also, could you use sodium bicarbonate to oxidize phenylalanine?

Decarboxylation means a molecule of CO2 is removed from the substrate, not added to it, the latter is what you intent to do.

Sodium bicarbonate is also no oxidising agent, it is a simple base.

I would suggest, that you look up the definition of the terms decarboxylation and oxidation, as you seem to have something mistaken or mixed up?

Oh ok. I thought bases and oxidizer agents were the same thing. And on erowid a pea synthesis they say the heat and carbon dioxide release from the heat is what knocks of the carboxylic acid group? Are you sure it isn't co2 release that does this? Also, I'm not too familiar with oxidation, I have practiced more reductions and animations of things, not so much oxidations

Erowids phenylethylamine from phenylalanine says they just heat in in a boiling proof solvent for 30 minutes and the carbon dioxide release is what does it
