Split from "Disagreeable Impurity in Drain Cleaner..."

6 year old thread bounce, very good, try for 10 year one next perhaps?

Please mind the dates on the thread.

O.K., Didn't even know that was a concern.

Is that sort of stuff written down somewhere on here?

I have not used forums like this much, is this some common thing on most forums I should be aware of?

Yes, it is very common forum etiquette not to revive dead threads unless you have significant contribution or have a new question related to the original topic.

It is not a real issue of you revive old threads, but the contribution should make sense. In SWIM's case the contribution is to the point and fits the subject of the thread, so no problem here ;)

Damn it! That was actually rather clever of the ScienceMadness user by the name of "SWIM". He's tricking unwitting legitimate chemists into talking like they're on The Hive in 2008!

Reasonable assumption, but that is in no way my purpose here.
Didn't even occur to me that such a situation would obtain.

I actually was looking forward to a hive member posting here again so I could say, "No I didn't do that, you have been misinformed!" But I chose the name on a whim with no real planning or plotting whatsoever.

I Wish to make it clear here that I will not be posting blatant cookery here, or doing posts in the second person (SWIM mixed the cough syrup with balsamic vinegar and boiled it to make heroin.)

I really don't mind being called the "science madness user by the name of SWIM" but it is cumbersome and makes me feel like The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.

Maybe I should just change my name to the alchemical symbol for tin, but that would be a hassle for ME to use.

If the administration here really feels this name is disruptive I assume they will let me know in some direct manner.

There's nothing wrong with posting to old threads. We encourage it here as it condenses all information on a topic in a single place. Makes it easier for research.

The name "SWIM" is OK to me and being an old hive member also is OK to me. We only look at posting and U2U behavior. For me, past 'sins' do not matter, it is actual behavior what matters.
