formate/chloride + mg = ?

I discover when i boil magnesium powder with propanol chloride or etanol formate the magnesium becomes organic and solution becomes vicous, washing with water does not remove anything.

is this magnesium chloride/formate enolates?

uppon adding naco2 the solution becomes white mass like enolates.
