Drying zinc nitrate

So i made some zinc nitrate although it's probably contaminated with some iron( and possibly tin) I made it by reacting zinc oxide which I made from reacting sulfuric acid with a tin zinc alloy.
It is currently drying in a makeshift dessicator with NaOH
It is nearly done now, so I am thinking after it has mostly precipitated out, how should I remove the excess liquid, usually I use a paper towel but since it is hygroscopic it would turn back into a solution. Do I have to use a paper towel in a dessicator?
Also the NaOH made some nice crystals, maybe I will make put a image here later.
