Riddle/wordplay: what elements you shouldn't use during work?

After how many posts do you think I should post the answer?

Sorry for my poor english :(

[edited: thx for the correct english term]

[edited: forgot this point: the answer consists of 4 elements]

Question makes more sense now.

Or more nonsense now? I can't really decide.

But off it goes to beginnings.

Rapopart’s Rules for critical commentary:

1. Attempt to re-express your target’s position so clearly, vividly and fairly that your target says: “Thanks, I wish I’d thought of putting it that way.”
2. List any points of agreement (especially if they are not matters of general or widespread agreement).
3. Mention anything you have learned from your target.
4. Only then are you permitted to say so much as a word of rebuttal or criticism.

Anatol Rapoport was a Russian-born American mathematical psychologist (1911-2007).

I don't see how there could possibly be an answer, other than your own personal opinion.

Is this some sort of 'riddle', or 'wordplay' like:

Three men were in a boat with four cigarettes and no matches. How did they smoke?

They threw one cigarette overboard and made the boat a cigarette lighter (Cue maniacal laughter from Frank Gorshen).

There aren't a lot of chemicals that I could ever see myself working with that scare me.
HCN and ketene scare me, mostly because one day I might use/make them. As for the scariest ELEMENT however...
If we're including isotopes, that'd have to be pol-210.

The fact that this thread has remained open this long without being canned is shocking to me.

The Element of Surprise.

That's an element and there's 4 words ;)

Earth, Wind, Fire, Water. There's another 4 elements.

Never use 4 mains-powered heating elements to heat your lab if you're making an ice sculpture.

There's more !

Maybe fluorine, uranium, carbon, and potassium.

This is supposed to be in Whismy or Miscellaneous right?

Inaccessible to Whimsy, but misc could also be another suitable forum. How do I move thread?

Also not that 4.

There is no sensible question to answer, however the Maths is intriguing.

A combination of 4 elements out of 118 could give a maximum of 193,877,776 combinations, if you allow the repetition of an element, e.g. HeHeHeHe.

How would you calculate maximum Not allowing the repetition of an element in the group of four ?
