Hi everyone,
I just wopndered if it was possible to change solvent molecules to get more interesting ones (make react hydrogen or I don't know)
Would it be possible to do so at home ?
Thanks

That depends on the solvent, obviously, and if you want to go to the trouble of reacting and purifying it all.
For instance, you can make diethyl ether from ethanol and concentrated sulfuric acid, but you have to condense the stuff (not a trivial matter due to
its low boiling point), it spends ethanol (not very expensive) and sulfuric acid (which is still sulfuric-ey, but no longer concentrated), and it has
no stabilizers (ether is nasty flammable and potentially explosive). In comparison, you can buy something which contains ether and distill that (you
still need a stabilizer), or buy it from a chemical supply straight and stabilized.
