An Imhoff cone is a cone-shaped container, used to measure the volume of settleable solids in a specific volume (usually 1 liter) of water or wastewater.
General
The Imhoff cone is a cone-like item, made of glass or plastic, marked with graduations. The plastic model is more often encountered, as it's less fragile. At the tip of the cone there is a stopcock of a screwed lid. The Imhoff cone is held with the tip downwards, to allow he suspensions to settle, most often in a funnel holder.
Availability
Imhoff cones can be bought from lab suppliers or online.
