What is so weird about this?
I did that reaction, actually even in MTBE, and it worked wonders.

Don't worry Cou, you don't have to remove every thread that isn't ultimately of great worth. I myself think it's a very neat choice of solvent that allows you to separate the clean product. Especially since MTBE is a bit outdated and I've only seen it used on Hyperlab. I agree that even though Shulgin wasn't a fantastic chemist and he didn't care much about optimalizing his reactions, but he had many neat ideas and was a very dedicated person :).

I use(d) MTBE quite often, as it is only banned in the states.
But I stopped using it over the course of the last years because I absolutely hate not the stench but the accompanied bitter taste you get when working with this.

@Cou, for deleting a potentially valuable post, you would have gotten like an outtime of a week the next door...
I feel like this is an absolutely unfair move, especially when others have put their time and experience into their replies.

Ok. Detritus. Because, aint no one can figure out what this thread is about.

I guess the rule of thumb is, if you reply to a Cou post, it's better to quote.
Cou, please don't do this. It is great to have good chemistry coming from your corner. And even if you have doubts about your post, good productive conversation can come from it.
