NCS-chlorination

Hello friends,
Nice and thrilled to join you.

I have a question. Is aryl chlorination possible by using NCS?
Are there any literature precedence
Thank You

Yes, it is possible to use NCS for the chlorination or aromates.
Yes, there are literature examples.

Looks like it might need a catalyst, other acids might work. Though the substrates in that first example weren't particularly electron rich.

Alternatively N-chlorosaccharin can be used, it should be more reactive than the succinimide and it sounds easy to make:

Thanks jizmaster for the alternative method.
I will look into literature.
